Exhibit

We invite you to participate in the 30th Annual Metabolic Camp’s Exhibit Day on June 10, 2024 and Taste Testing Activity Groups on June 11-13, 2024 by presenting your products and literature to our attendees. We expect approximately 30-40 campers, along with their families, camp staff, and professionals working in the field of genetic metabolic nutrition.

Join our team in providing a life-changing experience for girls and women living with inherited metabolic disorders, including PKU and MSUD! We welcome international and US-based volunteers to participate as camp staff.

Available positions:

  • Camp Counselor – Preferably Registered Metabolic Dietitians currently practicing in a metabolic clinic
  • Assistant Camp Counselor – Preferably nutrition or genetic counseling students
  • Camp Liaison – Metabolic Camp alumni who would make good role models for campers

Camp Volunteer Staff are required to attend Orientation on June 9, 2024 and to remain at the overnight Camp with the campers on June 10-15, 2024. All staff meals and lodging on Emory campus will be provided. Partial and full travel awards will be available based on financial need.


Job Descriptions

Camp Counselor

  • Conducts group and one-on-one nutrition management counseling sessions, discussing diet and lifestyle
  • Supervises assistant counselor(s) and the assigned counseling group
  • Opportunities to teach camp classes and activities
  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned by Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director

Camp Assistant Counselor

  • Assists assigned counselor in all ways
  • Escorts campers to room upon arrival, offering a tour of the accommodations
  • Assists campers with food records and presents results to counselor
  • Follows up with campers who need additional help with dietary intake, including ensuring sure they reach their daily goals
  • Wakes up assigned campers in the morning and ensures they attend scheduled classes and activities
  • Supervises campers during food service and cleaning responsibilities
  • Opportunities to teach camp classes and activities
  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned by Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director

Camp Liaison

  • Functions as a resource to campers and staff to help them acclimate to the camp setting and have a successful camp experience
  • Serves as an intermediary between staff and campers
  • Helps reinforce camp communications and notifies Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director about camp issues
  • Assists Emory Metabolic Camp Organizers with setup/cleanup of classes, activities, meals, and social time
  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned by as assigned by Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director
