Volunteer
Join our team in providing a life-changing experience for girls and women living with inherited metabolic disorders, including PKU and MSUD!
- Camp staff is required to arrive one day prior to Camp, on June 18, 2023, for orientation, and to remain at Camp as a volunteer for the complete Camp session, June 19-24, 2023.
- Kitchen schedule is Monday, June 19–Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10:00am—7:00pm

We welcome international and US-based volunteers to participate as camp staff.

Available positions:
- 5 camp counselors – preferably Registered Metabolic Dietitians currently practicing in a metabolic clinic
- 5 assistant camp counselors – preferably nutrition or genetic counseling students
- 2 camp cooks

Job Descriptions
Camp Counselor
- Conducts group and one-on-one nutrition management counseling sessions, discussing diet and lifestyle
- Supervises assistant counselor(s) and the assigned counseling group
- Opportunities to teach camp classes and activities
- Additional responsibilities, as assigned by Camp Director and Camp Coordinator
Camp Assistant Counselor
- Assists assigned counselor in all ways
- Escorts campers to room upon arrival, offering a tour of the accommodations
- Assists campers with food records and presents results to counselor
- Follows up with campers who need additional help with dietary intake, including ensuring sure they reach their daily goals
- Wakes up assigned campers in the morning and ensures they attend scheduled classes and activities
- Supervises campers during food service and cleaning responsibilities
- Opportunities to teach camp classes and activities
- Additional responsibilities, as assigned by Camp Director and Camp Coordinator
Camp Cook
- Helps prepare lunch and dinner for campers and staff using low-protein food products with the Camp Chef (experience with these products is not required)
- Maintains the cleanliness of the kitchen
- Sets up before meals in the common eating area
- Kitchen schedule is Monday–Saturday from 10:00am—7:00pm
All staff meals and lodging on Emory campus will be provided. Partial and full travel awards will be available based on financial need.

Exhibit
We invite you to participate in the 29th Annual Metabolic Camp’s Exhibit Day on June 19, 2023 and Activity Groups on June 20-22, 2023 by displaying your products and literature for our attendees. We expect approximately 30-40 campers, along with their families, camp staff, and professionals working in the field of genetic metabolic nutrition.

Donate
We rely on financial support from grants and donations to offer campers a reduced registration fee of $375.00 per person. The actual cost per camper every year is approximately $2,000.
